Does anyone here have experience buying ammo from the Bone Frog Gun Club? I bought some HST from them, and I noticed a few casings that have small dings or dents. It also looks old, maybe a hint of tarnish. I'm wondering if it might be reloads, I have no experience to know how to identify a reload. But in comparison, some other HST I have is bright and shiny, no dings.

GONRA suggests you do NOT buy any more ammo from "BONE FROG GUN CLUB".

Wot the hell is that anyhow?   You obviously don't now anything about this.   (GONRA doesn't either.).

So, DON'T DOIT - just to be safe.....!!!

GONRA,
Well it's just one of the many online ammo dealers included in ammo searches such as ammoseek.com. I don't suppose I could interest you in a couple of boxes of HST? ;-p

Reloads usually have silver colored primers.
Thanks, that's good to know. Unfortunately, so does Federal HST, to match the nickel plated case I suppose.

Winchester S/M primers are gold colored.  Streicher's (policehq) gets HST in every couple months, and they are honest.  They do a lot of sales to PDs, and they also sell to us civvies.  My .45 HSTs were $32/50.

Reloads typically will have extractor/ejector marks, and small dings and dents.  Factory's won't.

Artosa,
Thanks, I'll check for extractor marks and check out Streichers.

I do not know a ton about reloads versus factory ammo, however, I can tell you that you CAN buy with confidence from Bone Frog Gun Club: Very knowledgeable, honest, excellent quality and super fast delivery. I buy 100% of all my ammo from these folks and have had ZERO problems.

I just received 5 boxes of 124 grain 9mm +P HST from bone frog.

It is all reload; not new as advertised.

Hey guys.  I am the owner of Bone Frog Gun Club and as we advertise, we do NOT sell reloads, never have and never will.  We only sell new, factory ammunition.  Anytime a customer has a question about our ammo, we welcome a conversation.  Booger Boy (Steve), I contacted you twice, once leaving a message and once actually having a conversation with you, asking you to take photos of the rounds and of the lot numbers on the boxes so I could address the issue and possibly get the factory to issue an exchange of your 5 boxes.  Haven't gotten this from you, but instead you decide to make statements that are not factual, but rather your opinion.  I am a US Navy Veteran, very experienced in firearms and ammo and am just trying to get ammo in the hands of good, honest, avid shooters all at a great price with superior service.  Thanks and best to you.

Apologies, Booger Boy... quoted above as Steve but meant David.  Hope to hear back from you to resolve your issue.

Hi Bill,

Thank you for responding to this.  I  have most of the HST left that I bought from Bone Frog.  I stopped using it because my XR9 was having too many problems (I'm not saying it was the ammo's fault). I'd be happy to send you some pics of it.  The main thing I noticed right away was that the rounds look dirty or tarnished, not nice and shiny like the HST 147 rounds I have for another gun.  Some of the casings have small dents in them.  If not reloads, perhaps they were carried or were in use, and put back in factory boxes?  I wondered if perhaps you buy some of your stock as excess from law enforcement or other agencies.

Thanks,

Mollie

No, we purchase from an ATK master distributor.  There is no chance that the rounds were carried and put back into a box and back into a case.  We receive nothing but pallet/case quantities of ammo, therefore this could not happen.  Yes, please send us pictures of the rounds, and the lot numbers on the box/es (usually on the inner lid) if you still have them, along with the your original date of purchase, to info@bonefroggunclub.com and we will look into it.  Please be sure to include your current contact info so we can get back to you.
