I was offered an XDs so I could do a review. I finished the review up yesterday. It's a super pistol.
Just the video:
I didn't put it in the review, but I've always hated the looks of the XDC line of pistols. They actually make the Glock 26 and 27 look pretty in comparison. You pretty much nailed the problem in your first picture. The slide is way too tall and makes the gun look like ka-ka. They may shoot great, but life's too short to shoot ugly pistols.
Also, part of the reason for the laser test was to support my point last week that you do not need very much rail to support the Crimson Trace Rail Master. It will work fine on your XR9-L.
Arne, am I right in surmising based on the diagrams above that a Boberg XR45-L w/ a 4.2" barrel would have same capacity (5+1) with a shorter OAL than a Springfield XDS w/ a 3.3" barrel?
Yes, the XR45 (at least in a GAP) would be about the same footprint as the XR9-S. And a proposed XR45 L with a 4.2" barrel would be about 6.15" overall length, about .2" shorter than an XDS. With a full length barrel, Bruce should have been able to get that 1055 ft/sec out of the ammo instead of 916 ft/sec. That's a potential of 494 ft-lbs versus the achieved 373 ft-lbs.
So a 4.2" barreled XR45-L (full-size) with a similar footprint to the XDS would be much more powerful, while an XR45-S (shorty) would have same power as an XDS in a significantly smaller footprint, correct?
I should have said "..the XR45-L with a noticeably smaller footprint than the XDS would be significantly more powerful (~33% !!), while the XR45-S would have the same power as the XDS in a dramatically smaller footprint..."
Less posting and more gun making Arne. All this hypothetical stuff is killing me. Bring on the new Bobergs!!!
Working on it - new images now being posted in another thread.
