Craft sticks as spacers in the XR45
2 Replies

There seems to be more interest in the use of craft sticks as spacers with "shorter than ball" ammo and I wanted to throw my two-cents out there.  The spacers do help without a doubt; are they The…Continue

What kind of training have you had and what do you recommend to new and experienced shooters?

My firearms education is typical of people of my age (60+), NRA hunters safety, shooting and hunting.  I was not in the Service nor was I a police officer.   When I look on the internet and see the…Continue

"For those with LRE"s, maybe check the ejected round for a ding in the extractor cut of the case.  That will tell you if the round is bouncing off the fixed extractor.  It won't be a deep gouge, and a magnifying glass would help…"

"Good pic Luke.  Does the fixed extractor have a bevel on the insertion side?  That could be a source of LREs if it's sharp.  With the slide off  and the barrel out and a case in the lift mech, see if any slack in the feed…"

"Tim, since the slide only comes off towards the muzzle, it can't hit you in the face unless you're looking down the barrel?  Check and make sure the two flat springs are properly installed under the takedown lever."

"Pea-size drops will work fine.  My XR45 improved immensely using the AR8300.  Now when I load six, I shoot six; I'm not looking on the floor to see where the round went.   It's even easier to rack the slide to…"

"Bob, good pictures, thank you.  Lots of places for AR8300.  How is the racking effort compared to the XR?  It looks like they have a decent buffering system."

Hey man, Jake, been going back and forth on forum about your using craft stick in mag with HST. I bought smallest I could find yesterday (4&7/16 x 5/16 x 1/16. I trimmed length to 3", but not work, i assume either too thick or too wide because round sticks out to far to load beyond first. My email is jakerodriguez823@gmail.com. If you can send pic and dimensions of your sticks or just give me a call whenever convenient for you. My number is 504 376 4242
Thanks
Jake
