Light firing pin strikes
1 Reply

After not firing my XR45-S for a few months, I took it to the range and all of a sudden the firing pin is not striking the primer hard enough to ignite the primer. It will dent the primer and one…Continue

Mounting an optic?

Has anyone tried to mount any sort of optic like a red dot or reflex sight on any Boberg? If so I'd love to know who did the work, what optic was used and how it turned out.Continue

Causes and solutions for live round ejections?

I have the 45 and a number of us have reported live round ejections. I believe that this happens with the 9's also. My live round ejections are of the type where after a round is fired, the empty…Continue

Removing the hammer pivot pin

I need to remove my XR-45 hammer pivot pin. Does anybody know for sure if I drive it from left to right, right to left, or if it does not matter?Continue

"That sounds like a good plan.  If you like it on the glock, you can swap the optic to the boberg and upgrade the glock, which has better options for a carry gun (i.e. get your slide milled or get a replacement slide with pre-cut mount for the…"

"Art, I really appreciate all your advice here. What I think I'm likely to do is buy the sight along with the adapter for my Glock then if I like it, find the right adapter for the Boberg.  I'll have to try the dot and circle next to…"

"I would also add that unlike other automatics, you cannot manually load a round in the chamber with your fingers and get the slide to close over it, or chamber a round by inserting a full mag with the slide back and then letting the slide go…"

"Yes, It's just like any other automatic in that respect. Remove the mag and rack the slide. I suggest pulling the slide back vigorously. The ejection port is pretty small compared to the size of a live round so if you don't do it fast…"

"Regarding round ejection, how is a live round extracted from the chamber when testing feeding? Remove the mag and rack the slide?"

"When I initially started using a red dot, I was looking for the best combination of reliability, size and cost.  The Trijicon red dots have a reputation for being the most robust, and if you want something for a carry gun that you depend on you…"

"I have every expectation that a red dot will work for me exactly as you suggest. While I have aimed one in a shop, unfortunately I have never had the opportunity to actually fire one.If it works well, I'll probably switch over to potics for my…"

"My hands aren’t huge, but they aren’t small.  The shape of the back of the grip wasn’t comfortable for me, so I re-profiled it by adding a spacer at the top that is held in place by the grip tape.  While It’s not an…"

"Thanks so much, Art. You did a beautiful job. It's so nice to see pics of an XR 45 that isnt mine. You must have some pretty good sized hands to want to thicken the backstrap even further with the grip tape. So, bottom line, does the optic help…"

"Thanks for sharing. I'm pretty sure I'm going to follow your lead on this. I think this will make my XR 45 perfect. I agree with your comment regarding the diagram in the other thread. .052 is certainly not accurate for the dimension for…"

"I'll get it out of the safe and take a pic to post when I get a chance. I did this 2+ years ago, so my memory on the details is a fuzzy. I thought I had notes on which adapter I used, but I can't find them.  I do remember I tried…"

"Art, also which of the Jpoint adapters did you use? which has the right dimensions to be filed, 1911, Glock, Sig, etc.? Which of the 3 surfaces on the dovetail did you have to file? I presume it was 2 out of three, but which 2? Did you  do…"

"I mounted a JP Jpoint red dot on my Boberg 45.  Works fine, but it’s higher than would be ideal.  I hand filed a JP adapter plate to fit the Boberg dovetail, and added a tall front blade so that I had a backup sight option."

Alternative grips for 45-S

I am embarking on a quest to find, or even create, a set of grips for my new 45-S. I'm sure Arne has done a great job finding a grip size and shape that is the optimum compromise to fit the needs of the gun and the hands of a wide variety of users. My hand however, would get a better grip if the arched section on the rear of the grip were less pronounced/protruding. The flat mainspring housing on a 1911 also fits my hand much better than the arched version that most seem to prefer. Has…
